O secretário de Meio Ambiente da Prefeitura de João Pessoa, Abelardo Jurema Neto, revelou em entrevista a Rádio CBN João Pessoa, que o restaurante Bar do Cuscuz, pode estar sendo o responsável pelo despejo de esgoto no mar da praia de Cabo Branco.
Segundo Aberlado, a secretaria já identificou que não existe sistema de esgotamento no empreendimento e o esgoto gerado no restaurante pode está indo parar no mar, o que tem ocasionado, além da poluição, um mal cheiro insuportável para moradores e pedestres que passam pelo local, ou realizam atividades física.
O Tribunal de Contas do Estado determinou que a Prefeitura de João Pessoa, através da Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, que verifique e resolva o problema que atinge as praias de Cabo Branco e Manaíra. Segundo Abelardo, em Manaíra, o problema é de fossas que se rompem e acabam contaminando as galerias pluviais.
Em Cabo Branco, a Secretaria está averiguando se o problema é mesmo ocasionado pelo Bar do Cuscuz. Caso confirmado, o empreendimento será autuado conforme determina a legislação.
